Sertorian War

Years: 80BCE - 72BCE

The Sertorian War is a conflict of the Roman civil wars in which a coalition of Iberians and Romans fights against the representatives of the regime established by Sulla.

It takes its name from Quintus Sertorius the main leader of the opposition to Sulla.

The war lasts from 80 BCE to 72 BCE.

The war is notable for Sertorius' successful use of guerrilla warfare.

The war ends after Sertorius is assassinated by Marcus Perperna who is then promptly defeated by Pompey.

"He who does not know how to give himself an account of three thousand years may remain in the dark, inexperienced, and live from day to day."

― Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, West-Eastern Divan
