Salvadoran Civil War

The Salvadoran Civil War is predominantly fought between the government of El Salvador against a coalition of four leftist guerrilla groups and one communist group known as the Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front (FMLN) mainly between 1980 and 1992.
A violent insurgency had existed already in the 1970s.
The United States supports the Salvadoran government.
Cuba and other Communist states supports the guerrillas.
In total the civil war kills 75,000 people.
