Shapur I invades Mesopotamia in 250 but serious trouble arises in Khorasan and Shapur I has to march over there and settle its affair.
He then resumes the invasion of Roman territories and later annihilates a Roman force of sixty thousand at the Battle of Barbalissos and burnsand ravages the Roman province of Syria and all its dependencies.Shapur I then reconquers Armenia, and incites Anak the Parthian to murder the king of Armenia, Khosrov II.
Shapur then appoints his son Hormizd I as the “Great King of Armenia”.
With Armenia subjugated, Georgia submits to the Sassanian Empire and falls under the supervision of a Sassanian official.
With Georgia and Armenia under control, the Sassanians' borders on the north are thus secured.After his great victory against the Roman army at Barbalissos, Shapur dividea his forces.
Leading one army himself he penetrates deep into Syria all the way to the coast and plunders what he finds, while his son Hormizd I takes the other army and invades Lesser Armenia and Cappadocia.During Shapur's invasion of Syria, he captures important Roman cities like Antioch.
