Mongol Invasion of India
Years: 1221 - 1327
The Mongol Empire launches several Mongol invasions into the Indian subcontinent from 1221 to 1327, with many of the later raids made by the unruly Qaraunas of Mongol origin.
However, most of the attacks fail.
The Mongols subjugate Kashmir as a vassal state and occupy parts of modern Pakistan and parts of Punjab for decades.
As the Mongols progress into the Indian hinterland and reach the outskirts of Delhi, the Delhi Sultanate leads a campaign against them in which the Mongol army inflicts huge losses on the rival army, but are beaten back nonetheless.
After the collapse of the Mongol Empire, the final Turco-Mongol invasion occurs when Timur sacks and plunders Delhi, the capital of the Delhi Sultanate, though he departs India soon after.
