Mithridatic War, First
Years: 88BCE - 84BCE
There are three Mithridatic Wars between Rome and Pontus in the first century BCE.
They are named for Mithridates VI who is King of Pontus at the time, and a famous enemy of Rome.In the First Mithridatic War, Roman legions commanded by Lucius Cornelius Sulla fight significant battles, including the Battle of Chaeronea and the Battle of Orchomenus in 86 BC.
The war ends with a Roman victory, and the Treaty of Dardanos in 85 BCE.
