King William's War
Years: 1689 - 1698
The first of the French and Indian Wars, King William's War is the name used in the English colonies in America to refer to the North American theater of the War of the Grand Alliance (1688–1697).
The North American theater does not have a separate name in British, French, or Canadian historiography, and is simply thought of as being part of the War of the Grand Alliance.
It is fought between England, France, and their respective American Indian allies in the colonies of Canada, Acadia, and New England.
