Indian Campaigns of Ahmad Shah Durrani

Years: 1748 - 1767

Ahmad Shah Durrani raids India seven times between 1748 to 1767.

After the assassination of Nadir Shah, Ahmad Shah Durrani succeeds the throne of Afghanistan and starts plundering wealth from nearby regions.

He is the greatest antagonist of the Sikhs.

His repeated incursions destroy the Mughal Empire and at Panipat, dea a major blow to Maratha pretensions in the North and creates a power vacuum, which in the end benefits the Sikhs, who create the Sikh Empire.

Ahmad Shah Durrani is a successful raider but he is never able to consolidate his raids, because he has always to rush back to his country.

He is unable to crush the growing power of the Sikhs despite the Afghans military superiority because the Sikhs have better leaders and deputies.
