Granada, Fall of

Years: 1491 - 1492

The Battle of Granada is a siege of the city of Granada fought over a period of months leading up to its surrender on January 2, 1492.

The city is captured by the combined forces of Aragon and Castile from the armies of the Muslim Emirate of Granada.

Granada is the last outpost of the Moorish forces and its fall brings an end to 780 years of Muslim control in Islamic Iberia.

"History never repeats itself, but the Kaleidoscopic combinations of the pictured present often seem to be constructed out of the broken fragments of antique legends."

― Mark Twain, The Gilded Age (1874)
