Egyptian Revolt against Persia
Years: 460BCE - 454BCE
Ienheru or Inarus, also known as Inaros, an Egyptian rebel ruler who is the son of a Libyan prince named Psametik, presumably of the old Saite line, revolts in 460 BCE against the Persians with the help of his Athenian allies, and defeats the Persian army commanded by satrap Akheimenes.
The Persians retreat to Memphis, but the Athenians are finally defeated in 454 BCE by the Persian army led by Megabyzus after a two year siege.
Inaros is captured and carried away to Susa where he is crucified in 454 BCE.
