Emperor Yuan of Han (75 BCE – 33 BCE) is an emperor of the Chinese Han Dynasty.

He reigns from 48 BCE to 33 BCE.

Emperor Yuan is remembered for the promotion of Confucianism as the official creed of Chinese government.

He appoints Confucius adherents to important government posts.

He is, in many ways, a kind and gentle man who cared for the people.

However, at the same time that he is solidifying Confucianism's position as the official ideology, the empire's condition slowly deteriorates due to his indecisiveness and inability to stop factional infighting between officials in his administration, and his trusting of certain corrupt officials.
