Selim III (December 24, 1761 – July 28/29, 1808) is the reform-minded Sultan of the Ottoman Empire from 1789 to 1807.

The Janissaries (Janissaries) eventually depose and imprison him, and place his cousin Mustafa on the throne as Mustafa IV.

Selim is killed by a group of assassins subsequent to a Janissary revolt.
