Gaius Sallustius Crispus, generally Anglicized as Sallust (86 BCE – 35 BCE), a Roman historian, belongs to a well-known plebeian family, and was born at Amiternum in the country of the Sabines.
Throughout his career Sallust always stands by his principle as a popularis, opposed to the old aristocracy of Rome and a partisan of Julius Caesar.
