Sextus Propertius is a Latin elegiac poet of the Augustan age.
He is born around 50–45 BCE in Assisium and dies shortly after 15 BCE.
Propertius' surviving work comprises four books of Elegies.
He is friends with the poets Gallus and Virgil, and with them has as his patron Maecenas, and through Maecenas the emperor Augustus.
