Polykleitos the Younger
Greek sculptor and architect
Years: 395BCE - 325BCE
Polykleitos the Younger (circa 4th century BCE) is an ancient Greek sculptor of athletes.
His greatest achievements, however, are as an architect.
A renowned sculptor, Polykleitos the Younger is architect of the Theaterand Tholos at Epidaurus.
Started around 360 BCE, the Tholos exhibits elaborate detailing, especially on the Corinthian capitals of its interior columns.
These columns will influence most later designs for that order.
He is the son of the Classical Greek sculptor Polykleitos, the Elder.
Later in his life, Polykleitos builds many other works of art, most of his work on athletes.
