Lorenzo Da Ponte (March 10, 1749 – August 17, 1838) is an Italian, later American opera librettist, poet and Roman Catholic priest.
He writes the libretti for twenty-eight operas by eleven composers, including three of Mozart's greatest operas, Don Giovanni, The Marriage of Figaro and Così fan tutte.
