a member of a Nestorian Christian Naiman tribe, a group that is subservient to the Mongol Empire, is a lieutenant and confidant of the Mongol Ilkhan Hulagu, assisting him in his conquests in the Middle East.
When Hulagu withdraws the bulk of his forces, Kitbuqa is left in control of Syria, and is responsible for further Mongol raids southwards towards Egypt.
Heis killed at the Battle of Ain Jalut in 1260.
