Khurshid of Tabaristan

Dabuyid ispahbadh of Tabaristan

Khurshid (734–761), erroneously designated Khurshid II by earlier scholars, is the last Dabuyid ispahbadh of Tabaristan.

He succeeds to the throne at an early age, and was supervised by his uncle as regent until he reachesthe age of fourteen.

Khurshid tries to assert his independence from his vassalage to the Caliphate, supports various rebellions and maintains diplomatic contacts with Tang China.

Finally, the Abbasids conquer his country in 759–760, and capture most members of his family.

Khurshid flees to Daylam, where he ends his life.
