Kavad or Kavadh I (Persian: قباد Qabād or Qobād) (born circa 473, Ctesiphon, modern-day Iraq; died September 531, Syria; ruled 488–531) is the son of Peroz I (457–484) and the twentieth and twenty-one Sassanid king of Persia, reigning from 488 to 531.
He is crowned by the nobles in place of his deposed and blinded uncle Balash (484–488).
