Juan Manuel de Rosas (born Juan Manuel José Domingo Ortiz de Rozas y López de Osornio; March 30, 1793 – March 14, 1877), is an Argentine military officer and politician, who is elected governor of the province of Buenos Aires in 1829 to 1835, and then of the Argentine Confederation from 1835 until 1852, ruling the country as Dictator.

He is forced to resign after his defeat at the Battle of Caseros against an army gathered by Justo José de Urquiza.
