Jacques Necker (September 30. 1732 – April 9, 1804) is a Swiss banker who becomes a French statesman and finance minister for Louis XVI.
He holds the finance post during the period 1777-1781 and helps make decisions that are critical in creating political and social conditions that contribute o the outbreak of the French Revolution in 1789.
He is recalled to royal service just before the Revolution actually does start, but remains in office for only a brief period of time.
His elder brother is the mathematician Louis Necker (1730–1804).
