Years: 480BCE - 454BCE

Inaros or Ienheru, also known as Inarus, (fl.

ca.

460 BCE) is an Egyptian rebel ruler who is the son of a Libyan prince named Psamtik, presumably of the old Saite line.

In 460 BCE, he revolts against the Persians with the help of his Athenian allies, and defeats the Persian army commanded by satrap Akheimenes.

The Persians retreat to Memphis, but the Atheniansare finally defeated in 454 BCE by the Persian army led by Megabyzus after a two year siege.

Inaros is captured and carried away to Susa where he is reportedly crucified in 454 BCE.
