Years: 1799 - 1841
Ewing Young (1799 – February 9, 1841) is an American fur trapper and trader from Tennessee who travels in Northern Mexico and California before settling in the Oregon Country.
Young trades along the Santa Fe Trail and in Mexican Alta California prior to this province becoming a part of the United States.
He later moves north to the Willamette Valley.
As a prominent and wealthy citizen there, his death is the impetus for the early formation of government in what becomes the state of Oregon.
