Emperor Xuanwu of Northern Wei

Emperor of the Chinese/Xianbei dynasty Northern We
Years: 483 - 515

Tuoba Ke, later Yuan Ke (483 – February 9, 515) is known as Emperor Xuanwu of Northern Wei during the Chinese/Xianbei dynasty Northern Wei.

During Xuanwu's reign, Northern Wei appears, outwardly, to be at its prime, but there is much political infighting and corruption, particularly by Xuanwu's uncle Gao Zhao.

Xuanwu is an avid Buddhist, and during his reign Buddhism effectively becomes the state religion, as Xuanwu himself often personally lectures on the Buddhist sutras.
