Donato Bramante
Italian architect
Years: 1444 - 1514
Donato Bramante (1444 – March 11, 1514) is an Italian architect, who introduces Renaissance architecture to Milan and the High Renaissance style to Rome, where his plan for St. Peter's Basilica forms the basis of design executed by Michelangelo.
His Tempietto (San Pietro in Montorio) marks the beginning of the High Renaissance in Rome (1502) when Pope Julius II appoints him to build a sanctuary that allegedly marks the spot where Peter was crucified.
