Cleopatra Selene II (25 December 40 BCE -- anywhere from 9 March 5 BCE to CE 6), also known as Cleopatra VIII of Egypt or Cleopatra VIII, is a Ptolemaic Princess and is the only daughter of the Mecedonian Ptolemaic queen Cleopatra VII of Egypt and Roman triumvir Mark Antony.

She is the fraternal twin of Ptolemaic prince Alexander Helios.

Her second name in ancient Greek means "moon", being the counterpart of her twin brother‘s second name Helios, meaning "sun".

She is of Greek and Roman heritage.

Cleopatra is born, raised and educated in Alexandria, Egypt.

In late 34 BCE, during the Donations of Alexandria, she is made ruler of Cyrenaica and Libya.
