Basarab Laiotă cel Bătrân

Voivode of Wallachia
Years: 1430 - 1490

Basarab III cel Bătrân ("the Old"), also known as Laiotă Basarab or Basarab Laiotă is voivode of the principality of Wallachia in the 1470s, repeating the achievement of Dan II in being elected by the boyars as Prince on five different occasions.

Moreover, he succeeds the same voivode (Radu cel Frumos in Basarab's case) on four separate occasions.

Two of his reigns also bracket the last period in which Vlad III the Impaler rules over Wallachia.
