Alp Arslan (Diya ad-Dunya wa ad-Din Adud ad-Dawlah Abu Shuja Muhammad Alp Arslan ibn Dawud) (20 January 1029 – 15 December 1072) is the second Sultan of the Seljuq Empire and great-grandson of Seljuq, the eponymous founder of the dynasty.
His real name is Muhammad bin Dawud Chaghri, and for his military prowess, personal valor, and fighting skills he obtains the name Alp Arslan, which means "Heroic Lion" in Turkish.
