The tomb of Humayun, begun in 1562 on the orders of Hamida Banu Begum, Humayun's widow, sees completion eight years later.
The architect of the edifice is reportedly Sayyed Muhammad ibn Mirak Ghiyathuddin and his father Mirak Ghiyathuddin who had been brought in from Herat.
