The Free and Independent Republic of West Florida (commonly the Republic of West Florida) is a short-lived republic in the region of West Florida in 1810.

The United States and Spain hold long, inconclusive negotiations on the status of West Florida.

In the meantime, American settlers establish a foothold in the area and resist Spanish control.

British settlers, who have remained, also resent Spanish rule, leading to a rebellion in 1810 and the establishment for exactly ninety days of the Free and Independent Republic of West Florida.
