Years: 987 - 1199
The Principality of Volhynia is a western Ruthenian principality founded by the Rurik dynasty in 987 centered in the region of Volhynia in modern day Ukraine.
From 1069 to 1118, it belongs to Izyaslavychi who primarily rules from the Principality of Turov.
After losing Turov to Monomakhovychi in 1105, the descendants of Izyaslav Yaroslavovych continue to rule in Volhynia for a few years.
From 1154 to 1199, the principality is named Principality of Volodymyr when the Principality of Lutsk (1154-1228) becomes separate.
