The Triple Alliance is a treaty between the Dutch Republic, France and Great Britain, against Spain, attempting to maintain the agreement of the 1713 Treaty of Utrecht.

The three states are concerned about Spain becoming a superpower in Europe.

As a result of this, militarization takes place, causing great havoc to civilians.

This enrages Spain and other states, leading to brinkmanship.

It becomes the Quadruple Alliance the next year with the accession of Holy Roman Emperor Charles VI.
