Suebic Kingdom of Galicia

Years: 410 - 585

The Suebic or Suevic Kingdom of Galicia is a Germanic post-Roman kingdom, the first one or one of the first ones to separate de facto from the Roman Empire and to mint coins.

Based in the lands known at this time as Gallaecia and northern Lusitania, it is established about 410 as the ethnic kingdom of the Sueves, later, during the 6th century, becoming a territorial kingdom and identifying with Galicia itself.

It maintains its independence until 585, when it is forcibly annexed by the Visigoths, and turned into the sixth province of their Kingdom of Toledo.
