Southern Yan, Xianbei “Empire” of
Years: 398 - 410
The Southern Yan (398-410) is a state of Xianbei ethnicity during the era of Sixteen Kingdoms in China.
Its territory roughly coincides with modern Shandong.
Its founder Murong De is a son of Murong Huang and brother of Murong Jun and Murong Chui and therefore is an imperial prince during both Former Yan and Later Yan.All rulers of the Former Yan declare themselves "emperors".
