Narentines

Years: 640 - 1000

The Narentines is an ethnonym of a South Slavic tribe that occupies an area of southern Dalmatia west of the river Neretva or "Narenta".

They are known for their piracy, so they are today known as the Neretva pirates.

Some sources refer to their realm as Pagania because they were pagan.

The tribe ceases to be recognized as standalone after their Christianization in the 9th century, and particularly after the Venetian crackdown at the turn of the 10th century.
