Lower Egypt is the northernmost section of Egypt.

It refers to the fertile Nile Delta region, which stretches from the area between Upper Egypt and and the Mediterranean Sea — from El-Aiyat south of modern-day Cairo, and Zawyet Dahshur.

Lower Egypt is known as Ta-Mehu which means "land of papyrus."

It is divided into twenty districts called nomes, the first of which is at el-Lisht.

Because Lower Egypt is mostly undeveloped scrubland, undeveloped for human life and filled with all types of plant life such as grasses and herbs, the organization of the nomes undergoes several changes.The capital of Lower Egyptis Memphis.

Its patron Goddess is the cobra goddess Wadjet.

Lower Egypt is represented by the Low Red Crown Deshret, and its symbols sre the papyrus and the bee.
