Beothuk people
Years: 1000 - 1829
The Beothuk (also spelled Beothic, Beothick, Beothuck) are the native inhabitants of the island of Newfoundland at the time of European contact in the 15th and 16th centuries.
With the death in 1829 of Shanawdithit, a woman who was the last recorded surviving member, the people became officially extinct as a separate ethnic group.
