The Principality of Anhalt is a State of the Holy Roman Empire.

Anhalt is split off the German stem duchy of Saxony in 1212 and ruled by Ascanian princes until the dissolution of the Holy Roman Empire in 1806, when they are elevated to Duchy of Anhalt by Napoleon.Located in Central Germany, the Anhalt territory today is part of the state of Saxony-Anhalt.
