Alalakh, city-state of

Alalakh is the name of an ancient city-state near modern Antakya in the Amuq River valley of Turkey's Hatay Province.
Alalakh is founded by the Amorites during the Middle Bronze Age at the beginning of the 2nd millennium BCE.
The first palace is built c. 2000 BCE, contemporary with the Third Dynasty of Ur.Now represented by an extensive mound, the name of the modern archaeological site is Tell Atchana.
