The two thousand knights and six thousand …
Years: 1237 - 1237
November
The two thousand knights and six thousand infantry led by Pietro Tiepolo, son of the doge of Venice and current podestà of Milan, occupy a favorable position at Manerbio in November.
The two armies remain fifteen days facing each other without battling, separated by a marsh that thwarts the knights' effectiveness.
Frederick, whose army is becoming short of supply, leaves his camp in search of a more advantageous position, and on November 24 crosses the Oglio river, marching northwards to wait for the enemy's moves at Soncino.
