The Comtat Venaissin, often called the Comtat …
Years: 1000 - 1011
The Comtat Venaissin, often called the Comtat for short, a region in southeastern France surrounding but not including the city of Avignon, with its capital at Venasque, comprises roughly the area between the Rhône, the Durance and Mont Ventoux, with a small exclave located to the north around the town of Valréas.
An enclave within the Kingdom of France, the region passes to the counts of Toulouse, who hold it as a fief of the German-ruled Roman Empire.
