John Hawkins, having sailed to the newly founded French colony in Florida for a respite and departed Florida before the destruction of Fort Caroline, returns to England in September 1565, his expedition a total success as his financiers have seen a sixty percent profit.
He is the first to import potatoes to England in either 1563 or 1565 (sources differ).
