Years: 1334 - 1334
Giotto's fame leads to work for the king of Naples from 1328 through 1333 (but nothing remains of his work there).
In 1334, Giotto is made director of public works for Florence and receives a commission to design the cathedral's campanile and to decorate the Bargello with frescoes.
The city government's decree cites Giotto's personal reputation as a reason for awarding him these projects.
