Years: 1053BCE - 1042BCE

Assyria had entered another period of decline following the death of Tiglath-Pileser, as the Aramaeans begin to harass the frontier in northern Syria and along central Mesopotamia.

Shamshi-Adad IV, the son of Tiglath-Pileser, had in 1054 usurped the throne from his nephew, Eriba-Adad II.

The throne passes at his death in 1050 to his son, Ashurnasirpal I.
