January
Anacletus' position had grown weak by 1135 despite the aid of Aquitaine and Sicily, but the schism only ends with his death in January 1138, after which Gregorio Conti is elected as Victor IV but submits to Innocent within a month.
Innocent II returns to Rome and rules without opposition.
He refuses to reconcile with King Roger.
