Arrival of Iberian Jews in Northwestern Europe: The Sephardic Diaspora in France (1492–1498)

Following the completion of the Reconquista in 1492, the Catholic monarchs, Ferdinand and Isabella of Spain, decreed the expulsion or forced conversion of all Jews in their territories. Iberian Expulsion and Jewish Diaspora

Expelled Iberian Jews, collectively known as the Sephardim, sought refuge in neighboring regions.
